PANews October 1 news: California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the signing of an executive order requiring state agencies and departments under his authority to continue using the terms “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI,” without changing them because the federal government adopts other terminology, unless otherwise provided by law.
Previously, on September 29, Trump signed an executive order requiring federal administrative departments, in non-legal texts such as official communications, websites, and reports, to replace AI with “Super Intelligence” (SI). The White House said the new term better reflects technological capability and potential. The requirement is limited to the federal administrative system and does not require modifying existing laws, contracts, and other historical documents. At this stage, SI still follows the AI definition in current law.
