Do you have the same feeling? SOL has been rising all the way—missing out is hard to accept. And now that you’re considering jumping in, you worry you’ll be buying at a high point after expectations have already been fulfilled.

I also missed two more comfortable windows to observe. One was at the end of 2022, when the FTX collapse happened and SOL fell to between $8 and $20. The other was in mid-2024, during the early stages of the Meme craze, when Pump.fun started accelerating. Now, when looking at $SOL, the key isn’t whether it can still go up, but whether it can prove it’s not relying on just a single wave of popular products.

Next, there are two validation points worth keeping an eye on.

One is DeFi. If SOL wants to keep opening up space, it needs to truly reach the foundation of $ETH —not just have fast transactions and low fees, but also make more capital willing to stay long term. However, this will continue to face questions about decentralization and security. Even if institutional support increases, it doesn’t mean underlying risks automatically disappear.

Another is an application-level DApp. Pump.fun is a good product, but it may not be an uncopyable moat; ecosystems like BSC and Base could also support similar gameplay. The real question is still: why does an application necessarily have to be built on the blockchain? If all-chain games and similar scenarios take off first, SOL will also have to face competition from other chains like $SUI .

So I won’t look only at price strength versus weakness. I’ll observe three things: whether DeFi can continuously absorb and retain capital, whether applications emerge that are detached from the Meme cycle, and whether this growth is built on more reliable security and decentralization.

SOL is now more like standing at a crossroads. If it manages to go through this step, the market will reassess its ceiling; if it doesn’t, the talent that was already priced in may turn into valuation pressure. My action recommendation is to first look at these three validation signals, then decide on position sizing—don’t overweight just because you might miss out.
