Oil is surging again. Brent jumped 2% intraday to hit $99, WTI is above 91, and just three days ago, three oil tankers were hit near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump says the strait is “fully under control,” but data doesn’t lie: crude exports from the Persian Gulf have only recovered to about 80% of pre-war levels, while refined product exports are just half. Even more absurd, the U.S. has directly pressured Germany to release its diesel reserves—otherwise it threatens to cut off supplies. This storyline is more surreal than the crypto world.
What really chills me is the bond market: the Q3 yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries jumped by 87 basis points, the worst quarter since 1994, and TLT slid straight to a new all-time low. Real yields are approaching 3%—basically, the appeal of risk-free assets is violently returning, and global risk assets are being drained. Spot gold spiked above 4,150 and then quickly gave back nearly $20.
As for $BTC , holding stubbornly at these highs and not moving—honestly it’s tougher than I expected. The old narrative of geopolitical conflict plus a crack in dollar credibility is still propping things up, but macro liquidity is a blade hanging over our heads. $ETH is falling on shrinking volume; even gold can’t hold up—so why should crypto somehow be exempt?
My view is simple and brutal: don’t get carried away in the short term. Geopolitical risk premium can evaporate instantly from a single ceasefire headline. But if you believe in the long-cycle thesis of fiat currency depreciation, then this kind of macro fracture is actually handing $BTC more chips.
Control your position size, keep dry powder, and focus on the direction chosen at the U.S. session open.
