My plus in gold isn’t all mine yet: how much the exchange ate🤔🤫
I opened a position at $XAUT with an entry of 4, 138.72, and the price is now 4, 172.28. On the screen there’s a nice +0.37 USDT and ROI +16.22%. But this is my first time looking at the “Realized PnL,” and there it’s already a minus of 0.06.
Here’s the breakdown: trading fee −0.02 USDT, funding fee −0.05 USDT. So the funding has eaten more than the trade itself. I didn’t expect this because all the time I was only thinking about the fee on entry.
My position is small: 45.90 USDT with margin 2.29 (cross, 20x). Because of that, the absolute numbers are small, but the proportion is telling: roughly a sixth of my profit has already gone to costs, and there will also be a closing fee.
And honestly about the risk: liquidation price is 3, 936.46, take-profit is at 4, 500, and I don’t have a stop-loss. For this size, I consciously didn’t set one, but with a larger position I wouldn’t do that.
Now I’m not only looking at the price, but also at how much it costs to hold the position.
And do you check funding before entering, or only the price?
📊 What eats the most?
• Trading fee
• Funding
