Bitcoin rose on Thursday, extending its gains after recording massive profits in the third quarter, as optimism about more flexible U.S. regulatory rules fueled a sustained wave of buying at lower levels.
However, the crypto currency marketโs upward wave lost momentum as it entered the fourth quarter, amid pressures driven by rising Treasury bond yields, with markets awaiting further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.

Bitcoin advances as PCE inflation eases, but rising yields weigh on it
Bitcoin rose to $85,600.00 on Wednesday, after the release of U.S. personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation data came in slightly below expectations. The data sparked hopes that cooling inflation would lead the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates at a slower pace.
However, Bitcoinโs gains partially faded due to higher Treasury bond yields, which hit new multi-year highs on Wednesday despite a decline in inflation figures.
Optimism about artificial intelligence, following Micron Technologyโs impressive financial results, also shifted flows toward technology and the chip industry, weighing on cryptocurrency prices.
Attention is now focused on U.S. non-farm payrolls data for August, scheduled for Friday, for further signals on interest rates and the worldโs largest economy.
Expectations for an October interest-rate hike have eased after remarks that appeared more cautious from a Federal Reserve official this week.
Visa and Mastercard-backed stablecoin launched officially
A CoinDesk report said a stablecoin backed by payments giants Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe, along with crypto exchange platform Coinbase, launched officially on Wednesday.
The - OpenUSD - stablecoin was initially unveiled in June, and was launched on Ethereum, Solana, and Coinbaseโs Base networks, as well as Tempoโs network supported by Stripe, according to CoinDesk.
Zak Abrams, CEO of Open Standard, told CoinDesk that the company targets banking and cross-border payments services, as well as credit card settlement, institutional trading, and lending.
The company has more than 140 partners across the payments, banking services, crypto, and technology sectors, including BlackRock Inc., BNY, and Standard Chartered.
Cryptocurrency prices today: Altcoins rise after a strong third quarter
Broad cryptocurrency prices also rose on Thursday, with major altcoins continuing to build gains after outperforming Bitcoin significantly over the past three months.
Ether, the worldโs second-largest cryptocurrency, rose 2% to $2,714.83 after jumping about 70% in the third quarter.
XRP rose by 0.80%, while Solana added 0.90%. Cardano rose by 4.20%, and BNB climbed by 1.80%.
In the memecoin market, Dogecoin rose 2.90%, while $TRUMP climbed 7.30%.$C
