Seeing that the U.S. is once again talking about a new crypto tax bill, a lot of people in the group have started to get nervous again, wondering if they’re trying to pull something.

I’ve been playing with crypto for so many years—what regulatory news haven’t I seen? Every time there’s news about this kind of legislation coming out, either someone says the sky is falling, or someone says it’s a huge positive. But when it actually lands, it often turns out to be very different from what was first claimed.

Honestly, as long as you’re not doing high-frequency trading every day to make those “pennies on the dollar,” tax stuff really doesn’t have much impact on ordinary people. Instead, many people panic when they see this kind of news and start trading back and forth—end up paying a lot in fees, and also miss the market timing.

My experience over the years is this: when regulatory news comes out, don’t rush to conclusions. Do what you should do first, and wait until the bill truly takes effect before judging. A lot of the time it’s just a feint—you scare yourself first.

In my view, once you’ve been trading long enough, you’ll know that when most policy news drops, sentiment surges in the short term. In the end, things still move the way they were going to move. Don’t let the news push you into chasing rallies or panic-selling.

How do you all usually handle this kind of legislative news when you encounter it? Chat about it in the comments.
