#BTC Bitcoin closed September up 6.5%, while Ethereum was — nearly 9%

Historically, September is considered one of the weakest months for Bitcoin. From 2013 to 2025, the asset finished this period in the red eight times. In 2026, the first cryptocurrency continued its run of positive Septembers that began in 2023.
Ethereum also finished September in the green. The most notable move came in the second half of the month, when the asset broke above $2700 and reached its highest levels since January 2026.
After hitting local highs, the market partially corrected. By the end of September, Bitcoin returned to the $83,000–$84,000 area, but it still retained most of its monthly gains. Ethereum ended the period at around the $2700 mark.
Thus, both of the largest crypto assets finished September in positive territory despite a mid-month dip and the Federal Reserve raising interest rates.
