(Ledger Nano S, Ledger Nano X) officially supports the Binance Smart Chain mainnet. Users can use their Ledger devices to access Binance’s decentralized exchange (DEX) and trade crypto assets securely and independently on the Binance Square. This progress provides more reliable asset custody solutions for a wide range of crypto users, and brings Ledger’s “Not your keys, not your crypto”理念 to life within the Binance ecosystem.

Hardware wallet compatibility upgrade with Binance Smart Chain

Previously, the Ledger Nano S supported the Binance Smart Chain testnet. Now both the Ledger Nano S and Ledger Nano X can directly connect to the Binance Smart Chain mainnet to process transactions for assets such as Binance Coin (BNB). Users can connect the Binance Smart Chain app via their Ledger device (hardware wallet) and directly access the Binance DEX, without having their assets held by a centralized exchange. In this model, users’ private keys always remain stored on the offline hardware device, avoiding the security risks associated with centralized platforms and fulfilling the core need for “self-custody of assets.”

Security Advantage: Users control the private keys, and assets are better protected.

For holders of crypto assets, private key security is the core pain point. By connecting a Ledger hardware wallet to Binance Square, users do not need to rely on third-party platforms to manage private keys. The private keys are stored entirely within the Ledger device, kept offline and isolated throughout, greatly reducing the likelihood of being affected by hacker attacks or internal risks on platforms. Ledger Executive Chairman Eric Larchevêque said: “After the launch of Binance DEX, we are honored to be able to provide Ledger-level security guarantees, enabling investors to trade assets on Binance’s decentralized exchange while enjoying the ultimate security brought by Ledger.”
