September crypto hack stole $768 million, the worst month of 2026 so far. Bitget alone lost $388 million; Liquid Network added another $320 million—together accounting for 80% of the losses.

The hackers took three completely different paths with the money: NEAR Intents directly rejected about $50 million in swaps, while THORChain couldn’t stop it—or at least couldn’t explain clearly whether it could stop it. A $387.5 million address transaction still went through. Lawyer Yuriy Brisov said this case would be difficult to fight.

The rest of the funds were pushed into Zcash’s Ironwood privacy pool. Through three transfers, around 15% of the stolen ZEC—roughly $4 million—was hidden in a place where the sender, receiver, and amount are not visible.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the protection fund established in 2022 absorbed the impact, growing to $309 million, and the platform is slowly recovering. But compared to $388 million, $309 million doesn’t add up—at least not to me. $ZEC $NEAR
