🚨 Before entering Futures, ask yourself: what am I really buying?
Futures contracts are not just buying a coin and waiting for its price to rise. In many cases, you do not own the underlying asset itself; rather, you enter into a contract that benefits from changes in price, and settlement may occur based on price differences instead of actual delivery.
This is where the religious issue comes in.
The International Islamic Fiqh Academy ruled against the permissibility of the common form of future contracts in which both countervalues are deferred and genuine delivery is not intended. There are other types of deferred contracts with different rulings and conditions, such as the Salam contract.
Therefore, the most important question is not:
💰 “How much will I profit?”
But:
⚠️ “Is the contract I’m trading permissible in Islamic law?”
A large profit does not make the contract halal.
I’m looking for profit whose source I feel at ease with, before I look for the size of the profit.
