🥇 Gold price cumulatively fell more than 10% by late August—yet BTC is above 83,000?
This Monday, gold plunged nearly 4% in a single day, but Morgan Stanley says 4,000 is a "very strong floor"
With both weighed down by U.S. Treasuries, which will rebound first—gold or BTC?
📍 Latest data:
· Spot gold around $4,180 per ounce
· Hit a 7-week low this Monday, rebounded 1.64% on Tuesday
· After PCE was released, it briefly climbed to 4,207, then gave back gains
📊 Why it fell:
U.S. Treasury yields hit new highs, raising the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding gold. The Middle East situation pushed up oil prices, further worsening inflation and rate-hike concerns. With oil prices tumbling on Tuesday, gold managed to rebound.
🔄 Comparison with BTC:
Both are restrained by U.S. Treasuries. After PCE, each surged and then retreated. Gold has pulled back more than 10%, while BTC is still up 7.79% over the past 30 days.
🎯 Key levels:
Above 4,200 for gold; below 4,100. A break could see 4,020 (analyst reference level).
⚠️ If Friday’s Nonfarm Payrolls come in strong and Treasuries push higher again, both gold and BTC will face pressure.
