$XRP Ledger goes deeper into the finances of the real world.
Brazil’s CSD BR, which oversees more than 22 trillion reais (~$4T) in registered assets, has started reflecting the ownership records of selected investment funds from BTG Pactual on the XRP Ledger.
The key detail: XRPL is still not replacing the official database. CSD BR remains the legal source of truth, while the public blockchain provides a second independently verifiable record that approved institutions can consult in real time.
The records use XRPL’s Multi-Purpose Token standard, giving CSD BR control over who can hold and transfer the assets, including the ability to freeze or reverse transactions when legally necessary.
What makes this interesting is that it involves live fund records, rather than a simple testnet experiment.
The longer-term goal is even more ambitious: to issue and trade real-world assets directly on XRPL, potentially including credits tied to real estate in Brazil and accounts receivable from agribusiness.
If that happens, the blockchain stops being limited to tracking assets and starts helping issue and settle regulated financial products.
