October 1 Daily Report
Today, the U.S.-Iran situation along this line has finally made some concrete progress.
Trump said the war with Iran “will end very soon,” and Iran has also confirmed that it received the U.S. proposal response for a seven-day period, with formal discussions scheduled for Wednesday. Compared with the past few days of both sides talking past each other and denying one another, this time at least there is a clear date and specific documentation. However, that “very soon” phrase has been used a few times before—whether there is truly progress still depends on how things are discussed and what is said after Wednesday’s talks.
Economic data is also interesting. The U.S. core PCE came in below expectations, hitting a six-month low, with clear signals that inflation is cooling. Yet on the same day, Kashkari stepped out to say the Fed will raise rates one more time this year, and once again in 2027. The data says inflation is cooling, while officials say it’s still urgent—this kind of contradiction has been repeating itself lately.
In addition, today the FTC launched a comprehensive investigation into Anthropic and OpenAI—this is the first time a regulator has taken such major action against leading AI companies. Meanwhile, Micron’s quarterly earnings and revenue both exceeded expectations, and its outlook for next quarter also looks good. In the AI hardware space, performance remains steady.
