I've been looking into Acurast recently, and there’s one point that really surprised me: it doesn’t target data centers—it targets those old phones in our drawers that are still usable.
AI compute demand has been rising, but many tasks don’t require expensive GPUs. For work like running inference with small models, scheduled scripts, and API services, phones can also participate. What Acurast does is connect these scattered devices into a single compute network.
As of September 29, Acurast’s official website shows that 318K+ phones have already joined the network, covering 175+ countries;
@Acurast
Earlier, its official X also reported that on-chain transactions have exceeded 900M. The numbers will keep changing, but at least they show that “phones provide compute power” isn’t just a PPT concept.
Over the next four weeks, I’ll continue to break down the use of
$ACU
— the reward rules and the practical ways to participate.
If you have a spare phone, get it up and running!
