Funding doesn’t circle back to an old project that’s still stuck in the ditch for no reason. But once AI narratives start to prompt a re-rating of public chains, positions like $NEAR become a kind of “cheap with memory.” Over the past month, it truly has been repriced: the price was pushed from the 1.88 range up to above 5, riding in one surge of volume after another. In the market, people have begun to calculate the supposed upside imagination space of an “AI engine.”

But if you look closely at this wave of volume, the $1.28B volume spike on September 18 was the real starting point—when the narrative was truly activated. After that, although volume stayed in the 1.4–1.7B range, it never broke to new highs again. This suggests it’s not that no money is coming in; rather, the funds have switched to a new batch of more patient holders taking over. The people entering now are waiting for a firmer narrative anchor—for example, the real-world deployment of a large model’s call volume, or incremental gains brought by migrations from top projects.

What makes me pause and look again is that the current position is still a long way from its historical peak, and the 30-day +176% rally has already priced in part of the expectations. If, over the next few days, trading volume can contract to below $800–900 million, the support structure of $NEAR can retreat accordingly; but if it can form a new dense turnover zone at the current price, then this move won’t be the alpha of the first entrants—it will be the starting point for the ones re-mounting.

What I’m more interested in confirming right now is whether, as liquidity rotates across all “AI concepts,” $NEAR becomes a safe harbor, or just a stopover. If you’re also tracking this narrative and have noticed which direction the capital signals are moving, feel free to add clues below.
