Microsoft senior executive Peter Lee announced on Wednesday that he will leave the company. According to Sina Finance, he has led Microsoft’s internal research division for years.

Lee is one of several senior Microsoft executives who have announced departures this year. According to Sina Finance, Office and Windows chief Rajesh Jha, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer, Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw, and security chief Charlie Bell have also announced plans to leave.

Lee joined Microsoft in 2010 and helped lead a research division of about 1,500 scientists. According to Sina Finance, the division works on areas related to Microsoft’s business, including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, search, robotics, and cryptography, and its research has led to several new Microsoft products, including the quantum computing chip the company introduced last year.
