Betsey Stevenson said the Inspector General’s report finding no criminal wrongdoing in the Federal Reserve renovations confirmed the probe was about a president pushing against the Fed’s independence, according to Bloomberg.
She said Jerome Powell respected the central bank’s need to remain separate from presidential influence because its job is to keep prices stable and employment at maximum sustainable levels.
