⚠️MALVINAS: ROCKHOPPER RATIFIES OIL FOR 2028 DESPITE ARGENTINE MEASURES
The standoff for Sea Lion has just moved up another level.
Rockhopper confirmed it remains committed to producing first oil in the first quarter of 2028 and said it has continued support from the United Kingdom ɢʙ and from the island authorities. Its partner Navitas holds 65% of the project; Rockhopper has 35%.
The company also strengthened its financing and maintains that development drilling will begin in early 2027. The project includes a first phase that has already been approved, along with new stages of expansion afterward.
On the other side, Argentina ᴀʀ formally instructed the start of an arbitration procedure under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in an attempt to prevent the exploitation of hydrocarbons in the North Malvinas Basin.
