The truth behind Bitget being hacked has been exposed
It wasn’t that the private keys were lost
It was TM—some third-party security system that got hit first
This time Bitget was hacked
And the most painful part comes next
This time, the hackers didn’t even touch the private keys
According to Bitget’s latest disclosure
the attackers exploited a vulnerability in the third-party security product it used
after obtaining internal network credentials
they went further into the wallet system
forged withdrawal instructions
and ultimately moved about $388 million from some hot and warm wallets
Tell me—doesn’t that make you furious?
Bitget spent money on a security product to guard against thieves
but the security product itself became the thief’s door
MD, I bet once this news broke
every major exchange checked right away whether the security they hired was actually reliable
And honestly, that hacker is also seriously TM amazing
This guy may have entered parts of the infrastructure as early as August 31
and stayed hidden for nearly a month
only starting large-scale transfers on September 25
Investigation agencies say
the attacker also used customized tools to forge withdrawal operations
Currently, Bitget states
cold wallets have not been compromised
users’ account balances are unaffected
the losses will be covered by the users’ protection fund
the platform has also begun restoring withdrawals in phases
So this incident gives us a lesson
In the future, exchanges can’t just look at hot and cold wallets
Third-party outsourced security tools, the supply chain
could all become new weak points
In the short term, it may bring some panic to the market
and easily trigger funds to seek safety
But it won’t have too big an impact
Any news cannot be a trading signal
The only trading signals you can rely on
are your own trading system
