FTSE 100 rises after UK domestic output beat expectations

British stocks rose on Wednesday after data showed the UK economy grew faster than expected in the second quarter.

The FTSE 100 index gained 0.70% as of 10:18 a.m. The German DAX index rose 0.71%, while the French CAC 40 added 0.32%. Sterling was up 0.31% to $1.3271.

The Office for National Statistics said UK gross domestic product grew by 0.5% from April to June, beating expectations of 0.4%, compared with 0.6% growth in the first quarter. Net trade was the main driver of this growth, with export volumes rising 2.8%.
