AI agent topics are very hot—why is $VIRTUAL still falling?

As of around 9:00 a.m. Beijing time on September 30, the Base chain snapshot on Binance Web3 shows that in the past 24 hours $VIRTUAL had about $13.2 million in trading volume, yet its price dropped by roughly 4.9%. Someone may be trading, but that doesn’t mean buy pressure is winning.

For these platform tokens, I tend to separate “new projects keep appearing” from “platform tokens continue to benefit.” The former can generate discussion; the latter depends on whether real users stay, how platform revenue is generated, and what the relationship is between these activities and actual token demand. If it’s just constantly launching new names, the hype could run ahead of real use cases.

This isn’t to say that a one-day drop can disprove the entire ecosystem. My view is simpler: once the noise settles for a while, only when people still want to use the product, pay, and come back for a second time does the narrative start to materialize.

AI token volatility can be amplified by changes in liquidity and token supply. When you look at the AI agent track, do you think it focuses more on the number of new projects, or on the proportion of retained long-time users?
