Altcoin Index rises to 64, with capital starting to rotate into revenue-generating projects

🚀 Altcoins rally strongly but have not officially entered the “Altcoin Quarter” yet

According to CoinMarketCap, the Quarterly Altcoin Index increased from 48 to 64 in just one week, indicating that money is returning to altcoins. However, the index is still below the 75 threshold required to confirm an “Altcoin Quarter.”
Over the past 30 days, PONS is up more than 350%, NEAR is around 180%, ARB is up over 150%, and UNI is up over 110%. ZEC also briefly exceeded $1,600 in the previous week.

💰 Capital is focused on revenue-generating projects

David Hoffman of Bankless notes that tokens that have surged strongly—such as ARB, UNI, JUP, and ONDO—share the commonality of being tied to protocols with the potential to generate revenue.
According to Talos, current capital is concentrated in DeFi, on-chain perpetual platforms, and yield-generating protocols.

📊 Altcoins are becoming increasingly bifurcated

The top 10 altcoins now account for around 80% of total altcoin market capitalization, up from about 70% at the end of 2024.
This suggests investors are selectively picking specific narratives and ecosystems, rather than buying altcoins across the board.
