$SYRUP up 19.3% fee rate turns negative

Just finished scanning Binance futures—these numbers ($SYRUP ) look fishy.

First glance: it’s rising—current price 0.24644, 24h +19.3%. Second glance: it doesn’t feel right—funding fee rate drops from +0.0004% to -0.0003%, flipping negative. Third glance: more direct—open interest is up +9.6%, path 8.1M > 7.9M > 7.9M > 8.9M, and in the drawdown segment nobody seemed to cut positions. Trading volume $28.1M, market cap $295.6M. Ten news items are being followed; “Analyzing SYRUP's fall from $0.20” is still being replayed and reanalyzed.

Plain English: shorts are starting to gain the upper hand, but the holding cost for short positions is being pushed higher.

The reversal is here—deep negative funding piled up at low levels is fuel for short covering, not a guarantee of a rebound. The tighter the media watch, the less the needle picks the time.

Don’t rush to guess the direction. First, see whether the funding rate can turn positive, and whether OI is still piling up. Then calculate leverage and your position cost yourself.

Risk warning: negative funding is a cost, not a protective charm. Decide your position size yourself—liquidations won’t come with advance notice.
