Shopify has opened the last door of checkout to AI agents in browsers. The agent can now read the checkout page, change addresses and shipping options, and submit orders after the buyer authorizes it—no more relying on screenshots or scraping pages to piece information together.

The changes are grouped into three actions: view checkout, edit checkout, and complete checkout. What it can modify are order details like addresses and shipping; payment still requires the buyer’s authorization. Previously, WebMCP only went up to the storefront and shopping cart. This time it adds checkout, giving the agent the complete toolchain to finish the entire ordering flow after authorization.
