Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta, saw his fortune drop by about $10.9 billion over 24 hours to reach $246.7 billion on Monday, according to Forbes’ real-time list of the world’s richest people, pulling his wealth back below the $250 billion mark.
The decline came after Zuckerberg lost $8.9 billion on Friday, following a warning from Goldman Sachs that technology companies—including Meta—may need to generate around $300 billion in annual revenue from AI services to cover their capital spending, and about $1 trillion to achieve tangible profits.
As a result, Zuckerberg has shed nearly $20 billion of his fortune in just two days.
Meta’s shares fell by more than 4% after the performance of the personal AI agent Muse raised concerns about its ability to meet the high expectations placed on it.
Meta’s stock had risen by about 36% during September, supported in part by investor enthusiasm for “Muse,” the AI-powered assistant, which recorded 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks after launch.
But the wave of declines the stock has seen in recent days has trimmed its gains, directly affecting Zuckerberg’s wealth, who slipped to sixth place on the list of the world’s richest people.
📌The ranking of the world’s richest people now
📍Elon Musk: $916 billion
📍Jeff Bezos: $367 billion
📍Sergey Brin: $258.
📍Mark Zuckerberg: $246.7 billion.
