At the Connect conference on September 23, Zuckerberg unveiled the $1,299 Meta VR Glasses: the whole device weighs about 100 grams, with the battery and computing power housed in a separate "puck"; dual micro-OLED 2.4K displays; the first VR device certified as IMAX Enhanced; going on sale in spring 2027. Also announced was Muse Charm — a pendant-sized AI terminal that lets you press your fingerprint and talk directly to Muse without taking out your phone. It will go on sale in December, but the price has not yet been set. In addition, the $349 Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses without cameras will ship on October 13. My take: putting "personal superintelligence" ahead of the metaverse is tantamount to admitting the previous narrative has exited the stage; the $1,299 price is not meant to drive volume, but to secure the position of the "wearable AI entry point" first. After this wave of hardware from $METAB is in place, the question is: if you could only buy one, would you choose those glasses, or the pendant?
