Astana, Kazakhstan — September 2026. Binance Kazakhstan, a locally regulated company and provider of digital asset services within the leading blockchain ecosystem of Binance, conducted a survey among users in Kazakhstan to find out how attitudes toward cryptocurrencies are changing, what purposes they are used for or considered for today, and which areas participants believe are most promising in the coming years.
The results show strong interest in digital assets: 78.6% of participants believe that in 2026 interest in cryptocurrencies in Kazakhstan will have grown, with 36.7% reporting a significant increase.
At the same time, the perceived role of cryptocurrencies is expanding. While investments remain one of the main scenarios, users also consider digital assets for saving, payments, and international transfers.
More than 60% of respondents increased their use of cryptocurrencies
63.6% of participants say they started using cryptocurrencies more in 2026: for 32.8% usage increased slightly, and for 30.8% it increased significantly. For another 23.9%, the level of use did not change.
Among the goals of current or potential cryptocurrency use, 60.2% of participants cited investments, 58.5% — earning additional income, 48.8% — long-term savings, and 42.6% — trading. Practical use cases also occupy a prominent place: 32.8% chose paying for goods and services, and 25.1% — international transfers.
Thus, investment goals keep an important role, but users’ interest covers a wider range of financial scenarios — from savings and trading to payments and transfers.
Payments are the main expected area of growth
The most noticeable changes participants expect are specifically in practical use of digital assets. 64.6% of respondents believe that in the next 3–5 years crypto payments will develop fastest — the highest figure among the proposed directions.
International transfers are in second place — 42.6%. Almost as many participants chose investments — 42.1%. Another 35% expect active development of crypto cards, and 27.8% — of stablecoins.
These expectations go hand in hand with changes in perceptions of the market itself: 40.3% of respondents believe the crypto market is gradually becoming more practical, and another 25.1% say it has already become part of the financial system.
71% of respondents trust cryptocurrencies
The level of trust in digital assets among survey participants remains high. 71% of respondents trust cryptocurrencies to some extent as a financial instrument: 41.3% rather trust them, and 29.7% fully.
At the same time, users name further strengthening of trust as one of the important conditions for wider adoption of digital assets. Along with that, participants note expanded payment options, improved security, clearer regulation, and ease of use.
Users study the market themselves, but demand for education remains
A lack of knowledge remains one of the barriers to more active use of digital assets. At the same time, the study results show that users want to understand the topic on their own and evaluate information before making decisions.
The main sources of information about cryptocurrencies remain social networks (100%). Users also turn to crypto platforms and educational resources.
This indicates persistent demand for clear, practical educational content that helps users better understand the opportunities of digital assets and the associated risks.
More than 90% expect cryptocurrencies to become more widespread
Survey participants assess the future prospects for digital assets in Kazakhstan positively. 91.2% believe that in the next 3–5 years the use of cryptocurrencies in the country will become more widespread: 46.4% answered “rather yes,” while another 44.8% expect significant growth.
Nearly half of the participants — 47.9% — believe that in five years cryptocurrencies will become part of everyday finances, while 20.3% expect they will be used mainly for investments.
“The survey results show that users’ interest in digital assets is becoming more diverse. Investments retain an important role, but at the same time interest in practical use cases is growing — payments, transfers, and other financial operations. It is especially telling that participants most often name crypto payments as the direction that will develop fastest in the coming years. For further market development, it is important to continue working on accessibility, security, and user education,” said Nurkhat Kushimov, General Manager of Binance Kazakhstan.
