Coins are on the move—this time, the direction is different.

Stop staring at the candlestick chart (K-line) and watch where the coins are heading. Binance saw a net outflow of 13,800 BTC over the past week—an all-time high for the past three years. This isn’t a prelude to a sell-off; it’s people taking coins out of exchanges and locking them directly into their own wallets.

I’ve always held this view: coins sitting on exchanges are chips, while coins tucked into cold wallets are the real chips. When a wave of withdrawals kicks off, the market rarely stays calm afterward. The usual script is: withdraw first, then pull the market. This has been played out in crypto more than once. FOMO emotions are back—ironically, the most panicked are the people who still have coins in hand. It’s not a pleasant thing to say, but the data is right there.

At the same time, after that XRP surge of 8% a while back, it hasn’t fully given back—its current price is still above $1.52, which suggests the people who took it out aren’t rushing to dump. Stablecoins are also making noise. Tether, the issuer of USDT, came out proactively and said its exposure to that bank that was sealed off—worth $84 million—is limited. Voluntarily clarifying like that basically means the situation is tight. Everyone fears something going wrong on the money trail.

Put the three lines together and look: money on-chain is moving to cold wallets, stablecoins are trying to prove they’re clean, and the “second tier” is holding back, waiting for the rotation. The money hasn’t disappeared—it’s just changing locations. In this market cycle, the first group to really stand out is always the one that gets the funds to the right place ahead of time. Even Dogecoin’s “father,” Elon Musk’s little dogs, are just staying exactly where they should, wagging their tails and waiting for the wind to blow.

Confidence has never lived in people’s mouths. It lives in wallet addresses.

This week, I’m watching one number: whether the exchange net outflows keep accelerating. As long as outflows continue, the story isn’t over—this week, we’ll know the answer.
