Nasdaq has granted institutional-grade real-time market data distribution rights to Pyth, yet this news has been lying on Binance Square for a full five days with nobody paying attention. Today, PYTH suddenly surged by 7.6%, and discussion volumes are up to nearly four times the usual level. For money that only reacted five days late, what exactly is it betting on?

On September 22, Pyth received official distribution qualification from Nasdaq Basic—covering real-time quotes for all U.S. stocks, opening and closing prices, and allowing it to be sold directly to brokers, banks, and financial technology platforms. On September 24, Pyth also announced it would build an enterprise corporate actions dataset, covering nine categories of events: stock splits, dividends, delistings, and mergers and acquisitions. With these two hard pieces of news posted, the market stayed quiet for five days—until today, when it finally blew up.

First, rule out a short squeeze: open interest is $57.76 million, and only $267,600 was liquidated in 24 hours—nowhere near enough even for the smallest fraction. This is genuine buy-side demand chasing, not a fake fall caused by leverage getting wiped.

But what exactly is it chasing? Nasdaq’s move is a real breakthrough, opening institutional distribution channels for Pyth. However, the corporate actions dataset is still at the roadmap stage—nothing is live yet, and after combing through the entire announcement, there isn’t a single word saying that the PYTH token holders will earn any extra revenue, get any additional buybacks, or any further token burns as a result. Institutional business is getting bigger, and the money flows to the Pyth company—not to the holders of the PYTH token.

The questions nobody answered five days ago are still unanswered today. So I’m leaning toward a sideways range rather than chasing highs this round. If you want me to change my mind, only if the corporate actions dataset truly lands in production and there’s a clear linkage to PYTH—such as revenue sharing or buybacks. That would be a legitimate reason for price to move up. Otherwise, no matter how fast the sentiment runs, the fundamentals remain stuck in place.
