🇺🇸 Bessent announced new measures against Iran as part of the “Economic Outcast” operation

“After the start of the ‘Economic Outcast’ operation, the U.S. Treasury Department introduced targeted financial measures against banks and aviation service providers. At my instruction, teams were sent to different countries around the world to hold talks with governments and urge them to take action against the Iranian regime.

These efforts are yielding results. Turkey and Oman announced the suspension of flights by Mahan Air to their countries. The UAE has suspended all flights by Iranian airlines, and the largest commercial banks in the UAE and Turkey have stopped conducting operations with Iran.

Even Iran’s leadership has acknowledged the economic impact of the war: the rial exchange rate has fallen to record lows. I would like to thank the governments of the United Kingdom, Turkey, Oman, and the UAE. We will continue working together, because there is still much that needs to be done to prevent Tehran from carrying out its terrorist agenda,”
