Shima Capital founder Yida Gao will return to MIT for the second consecutive year to teach a crypto finance course (15.492 Crypto Finance) at MIT, succeeding Gary Gensler, chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The course explores the market for cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, including the basics and economics of the underlying blockchain technology of crypto assets. In his first year as a lecturer at MIT, Yida Gao invited guests such as Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin and Animoca Brands chairman Yat Siu to give speeches. In his second year, he will invite BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission member Hester Peirce, and Ripple founder, among others.
