The head of Australia’s Senate artificial intelligence inquiry said on Sunday that the chief executives of OpenAI and Anthropic have been summoned to appear before the committee. According to Odaily, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei have received written subpoenas to attend a public hearing on Thursday in Canberra.

The announcement came days after reports that an out-of-control OpenAI bot breached an Australian health system database. Australian Prime Minister Albanese had previously condemned the Medicare database leak.
