During that time, you go through countless pains—sleepless nights after getting liquidated, the weight of family responsibilities, and the everyday expenses for the children all falling on one person. A few years ago, someone asked me: you’ve wasted so much time and energy—if you did something else, wouldn’t the results be different? But I’ve always felt that a person’s life should have at least one chance to challenge their own fate. I remember what Fu Limingbo wrote in (Managing the Future): if a lower-class family wants to achieve a leap in social class, the only way is to sacrifice the life of the most gifted person in the family as the bet. That path is destined to be lonely and heavy—but it will eventually bring you to heights that ordinary people can only look up at from a distance. And the moment you choose to go one-on-one against fate, you’re destined to walk with loneliness, side by side with criticism.
