The AERO token recorded a 25.5% increase over 24 hours to reach $0.89, while the VELO token rose 22.1% to reach $0.038, following the announcement of a plan to merge the Aerodrome and Velodrome platforms into a single cross-chain decentralized exchange called "Aero," scheduled to launch on October 21.

Merger details

The new platform is planned to operate on Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, and Ink, with the Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum networks to be added later. As part of the merger, the current AERO and VELO tokens will be unified under a single token named AERO.

And according to the adopted revenue-sharing model, AERO holders will receive approximately 94.5% of the prior revenues, compared to 5.5% for VELO holders. In addition, it is planned to move the existing community structure and trading platforms to Aero’s new ecosystem.

Significance of the merger

Given that Aerodrome is one of the most prominent liquidity hubs within the Base ecosystem, and Velodrome is a key player on the OP Mainnet, this merger is viewed as an effort to unify the liquidity and user base of both protocols under a single entity.@Binance Square Official
