Don’t take the “request has been submitted” status as “the order has been canceled” right after you tap the cancel button.

Teaching example: Suppose you place a limit order, and then initiate a cancellation. The page may first show “cancellation in progress” or “request received.” This only means the platform has received your action; it doesn’t prove the order won’t still be filled. Only after the order details’ final status updates to “canceled” or a platform-equivalent status should you confirm the unfilled quantity. If it shows that the order was canceled after a partial fill, then the filled portion must still be handled according to the trade records. The exact status names depend on the platform you’re using.

Today, self-check a recently canceled order: write down the order number, and compare the cancellation receipt with the order details’ final status together. If the status is still “in progress,” “open,” or shows a remaining unfilled quantity, then don’t calculate your available balance and positions using “canceled.”
