Saw Aave’s official announcement: the tokenized US stocks from that batch by Coinbase can now be used as collateral on Aave V4 on Base to borrow USDC—currently there are 7: AAPLc, AMZNc, GOOGLc, METAc, MSFTc, NVDAc, and TSLAc; just drop them into Equities Hub.
Structurally, it’s still Coinbase Onchain SPV issuance and Alpaca custodianship of the real shares—not purely synthetic tracking. Chainlink handles on-chain pricing. During weekends and when US stock markets are closed, the price will be stuck at the last recorded trade, but borrowing/repayment and withdrawals can still be carried out. The stocks themselves can’t be borrowed, and for now you can’t use one stock to borrow another.
Available only in the US-excluded, compliant regions. Tokenized stocks have moved from “for playing around” to “to borrow against,” which is another half-step forward—though with weekend pricing frozen and regional restrictions, if you want to use it at scale, these two areas will still need time to be worked through.
