Pulled up on the Federal Register: The SEC has extended the deadline for its review of Nasdaq ISE’s proposal to adopt general listing standards for crypto ETF options (SR-ISE-2026-42), pushing it from today’s September 27 to November 11.
The proposal itself aims to set an options listing threshold for “commodity trusts that hold one or more digital commodities,” so that going forward, each product won’t have to go through a separate round of back-and-forth with the SEC. The 45-day window after the proposal was published on August 13 expires today; the SEC said it needs more time to assess it, so it is being extended through the procedural maximum—up to a 90-day point. No public comments were received during the period. So it’s neither approved nor rejected for now—just a postponement of the decision.
Spot crypto ETFs have already moved through the general listing standards. If the options layer is standardized too, it should make it much smoother for later single-coin products to list options. The key question is whether November 11 will be the point of direct decision, or whether the SEC will open a formal proceeding instead.
