šŸ” What if Bitcoin could become more private—without changing Bitcoin itself?
FACT -> On September 24, 2026, at Delving Bitcoin, Shielded Bitcoin was introduced—a metaprotocol for private transfers on Bitcoin L1.
It does not require a soft fork, a separate blockchain/sidechain, or an external bridge. But peg-in/peg-out is not yet complete and is currently not fully trustless.
MECHANISM -> The right to BTC is represented as encrypted notes. In a Bitcoin transaction, a commitment, a nullifier, and a zero-knowledge proof are published; the encrypted note is intended for the recipient.
The proof confirms the right to spend and the sum balance without revealing the specific links between participants.
Indexers verify the proofs and the nullifier, but they do not control the funds.
