According to Wallstreetcn, as El Nino worsens and India faces its driest monsoon season since 2009, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank is pushing to expand its water financing portfolio in India. AIIB Acting Chief Economist Zhang Pingtia said the multilateral lender wants to finance a broader pipeline of critical water infrastructure projects in India and provide policy loans to support governance reforms. Since its founding, AIIB has approved $13.8 billion in financing for India, with direct loans for water projects accounting for less than 7%.
