CZ latest interview—this is the bigger picture!
CZ @CZ , in a recent interview with When Shift Happens, was asked about Hyperliquid.
In summary, it comes down to three points:
1) He has no opposition to Hyperliquid.
2) The crypto “cake” is still very small. What CZ wants is more exchanges—not fewer.
3) They’ve shaped centralized exchanges—especially Binance—into the villains. That helps them win the community. CZ doesn’t care; that’s competition.
CZ’s bigger-picture thinking is far more sophisticated than many project teams.
While many people are still playing the narrative of “you kill me or I kill you,”
CZ is looking at penetration: globally, it’s still under 1%.
Before the cake gets bigger,
constantly fighting each other every day is just over-competition (internal churn).
Once the cake gets bigger,
DEX, CEX, on-chain, and off-chain can all share the rewards.
Hyperliquid rising shows that the market needs a better trading experience.
If Binance can stay on top,
it means users still want liquidity, security, and an entry point.
The two sides are not “you kill me or I kill you.”
What kills is people treating their rivals like enemies.
The industry is still early.
What you should really worry about isn’t that your competitor gets stronger,
but whether you have the ability to grow the pie.
