This milestone occurred as ZEC surged sharply, pushing the value of existing fund holdings up significantly alongside new fund inflows.
Grayscale said Zcash is among the assets that “define a new era of digital finance,” highlighting growing institutional interest in privacy-focused assets.
However, there is an important detail: the AUM figure of $1B is not the same as $1B in new money from investors. The fund already held ZEC before it was converted into an ETF, while the jump in ZEC's price has also significantly increased the value of its assets.
