On September 24, 2026, Bitget’s security systems detected unauthorized transfers in some of its hot wallets. The estimated economic impact reached $351.6 million, affecting exclusively a portion of the hot and warm wallet layers, while cold wallets remained completely secure.
To protect the community, the company activated an emergency response team within minutes, notified the police and chain security authorities, and temporarily suspended withdrawals as a preventive measure.
The CEO, Gracy Chen, confirmed that users’ funds are fully protected and that the amount of the loss is entirely covered by Bitget’s User Protection Fund, which has more than $464 million.
The platform also received support from independent experts such as Mandiant and SlowMist, along with the collaboration of Binance’s security team for tracing funds.
Bitget reiterated that account balances are accurate and that deposits along with trading continue to operate, pending the resumption of withdrawals once the security review has been completed.
