Bitwise applies to list a NEAR ETF; NEAR moves a step further toward institutionalization
NEAR has received another key catalyst: Bitwise’s NEAR ETF has completed the registration process and plans to be listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker NRR.
The biggest significance of this is not just adding another tradable product for NEAR, but also giving traditional capital a new compliant channel to directly allocate to NEAR.
According to the offering documents, NRR mainly holds NEAR spot and plans to generate additional returns through staking, with a management fee of 0.75%. NYSE Arca has already approved the listing application, but that does not mean the U.S. SEC has officially approved the securities offering. The documents also clearly state that the securities have not yet been approved or rejected by the SEC.
Why is this news especially important for NEAR? In the past, institutions looking to allocate to NEAR had to deal with a series of hurdles involving exchanges, custody, wallets, staking, and more. An ETF wraps these steps into a conventional financial product, lowering the barrier for capital to enter.
More importantly, NEAR has recently shown a clear upward move. If the ETF can begin trading and continue to attract net inflows, it could create a feedback loop: “price rises → institutional attention increases → ETF capital enters → market attention continues to improve.”
That said, don’t assume the ETF news automatically means NEAR will keep rising. What truly determines the market move level is the actual capital flows after the ETF starts trading, and whether NEAR’s ecosystem fundamentals can support this institutional narrative.
From a sector perspective, this also suggests that the U.S. market is gradually expanding from BTC and ETH into ETF products for more mainstream public chains. If NEAR completes the process smoothly, it could further reinforce market expectations for “public-chain ETF-ification.”
So going forward, the three most important data points to watch are: the official listing date of NRR, net capital inflows in the first week, and whether NEAR can maintain its strength after the good news is priced in.
If the ETF ultimately shows sustained net inflows, this round for NEAR may shift from a simple public-chain rebound to a new phase of “institutional capital allocation + ecosystem fundamentals.”
