September 24, 18:31 (UTC). Bitget detected abnormal outflows from a hot wallet and a warm wallet. The loss is about $387.5 million, the largest exchange theft case this year. CEO Gracy Chen said the private keys were not leaked. The attacker breached the wallet infrastructure backend, forged transaction data to bypass the authorization process, and some IP addresses match VPN characteristics associated with organizations related to North Korea. The attacker’s identity has not been confirmed yet. The largest single transaction involved 103 million XRP (about $157 million). Funds were transferred across at least five chains. Circle blacklisted the relevant addresses at 05:00 (UTC) on September 25, and Tether followed about 7 hours later. Together, the two companies froze only about $318,000 worth of USDC/USDT. Attacker-linked addresses still hold more than 63,000 ETH, and no issuer has the authority to freeze those funds. Bitget said its user protection fund of $464 million would provide a backstop; withdrawals are paused while deposits and transfers are operating normally. Mandiant and SlowMist are involved in the investigation, and the expected recovery time has not been disclosed. BTC is currently trading at $83,994, down 0.8% over the past 24 hours. Conditional view: If BTC breaks below $83,000 and the exchange sector remains weak, look toward $81.5k. If it moves back above $85k, then we can talk about a repair. Set a stop-loss at $82.8k. Personal opinion: The above information does not constitute investment advice. Would you still leave large assets on an exchange?$BTC $XRP #Bitget #BTC #稳定币 #exchange security
