KelpDAO and LayerZero have completely fallen out.
In April this year, KelpDAO’s rsETH cross-chain bridge was hacked, and 116,500 rsETH was stolen—then worth about $292 million.
Now KelpDAO has directly sued LayerZero and its CEO, Bryan Pellegrino.
Kelp claims that before the incident, LayerZero reviewed their cross-chain configuration and also confirmed the security.
LayerZero, however, believes that Kelp only used a single DVN validation node and didn’t set up a second independent validation path, which allowed the forged message to ultimately go through.
The $292 million is gone—now both sides have started arguing over who should be held responsible for the blame.
