Catching sight of this Dynamic Zone post: Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade is already in public testnet.
The core points are pretty solid—final transaction confirmation time is planned to be reduced from about 13 seconds to about 0.15 seconds, replacing the current TowerBFT with the Votor voting protocol. In Anza’s feature tracking, the tentative mainnet upgrade date is September 28; however, for now the testnet is only running Agave, and Firedancer / Frankendancer haven’t caught up yet.
There’s a lot of room to imagine in terms of speed—the client’s single dependency on this is still worth keeping an eye on.
