Human Nature: “Why Didn’t Hou Yi Shoot the Moon?”

Today I watched a video about the Mid-Autumn folklore,
which made me realize for the first time:
Sister Chang’e is a thief,
after stealing the divine medicine of her husband Hou Yi,
she ascended to the moon!
When I looked up the historical records,
this myth really is just that!
In the Huainanzi · Lan Ming Xun:
“Yi requested the elixir of immortality from the Queen Mother of the West; Chang’e stole it and fled to the Moon Palace.”
In Yuan Dynasty, anonymous writer: “Zhuan Kuai Tong,” Act Three:
“His sister is Chang’e in the moon.”

In ancient times, there were 10 suns in the sky at the same time; the earth was scorched to charred ground. For the people, Hou Yi shot down 9 of the suns. The Queen Mother in the West rewarded him with the immortality elixir.
When Hou Yi’s wife Chang’e took advantage of the time when Hou Yi wasn’t paying attention and secretly ate those medicines, she suddenly became an immortal and flew to the heavenly palace. The Queen Mother punished her and made her reflect on her actions in the Guanghan Palace.
So the question comes again:
Hou Yi had the ability to shoot the sun—
why didn’t he shoot the moon?
Hou Yi and I are both men.
From Hou Yi, I see my own reflection.
In the end, he chose not to shoot the moon!
