Crypto markets are stuck in between “greed” and “rate hikes,” caught in a dilemma—up or down, neither option feels easy.

$BTC Bitcoin’s current price is around $84,000. A few days ago it surged to $87,000, but then it $ETH was knocked back down. Why? The market suddenly realized that the U.S. Federal Reserve may still raise rates in October, and the probability has already jumped to 75%.

So what does a rate hike mean? Money gets more expensive, and funds are reluctant to chase high-risk assets. That’s why an asset like Bitcoin, which doesn’t generate interest, gets hit first. So now you see people sell when BTC rises a little, and buy when it dips a little—classic back-and-forth tug of war.

But there’s one key piece of data: over the past two days, Bitcoin briefly broke above 85,000, which is the production cost line for miners calculated by JPMorgan. Before that, it spent 280 consecutive days below the cost line, meaning miners were constantly losing money and still had to hold on. If it can stay above 85,000, miners won’t be forced to sell coins just to pay electricity bills, and selling pressure will be much smaller.

The ETF is still buying. On September 24, US Bitcoin ETFs saw net inflows of about 3,824 BTC, and Ethereum ETFs also added nearly 50,000 ETH. Institutions haven’t run—retail investors are panicking.

There’s a big event this afternoon at 4 PM: Deribit’s options worth $17 billion have concentrated settlement, and short-term volatility could be huge. In the evening, there will also be US durable goods data and the consumer confidence index. If the data is strong, rate-hike expectations could get even more intense, and coin prices may be hit again.

In terms of action, don’t chase a rising price. For BTC to be considered stable, it needs to hold above 84,000. If it breaks down, just watch. ETH has just reclaimed 2,700, and SOL is relatively strong around 117, but the total market cap is falling, which suggests capital is only huddling around the mainstream—altcoins aren’t ready yet.

One sentence: Macros are weighing things down, but institutions are propping it up. Don’t get carried away—wait until after the afternoon settlement is finished to see which way it goes.#币安将上市Hyperliquid(HYPE) #美联储10月加息概率升至69.7% #比特币24小时跌3.3%失守83000美元 #比特币本周回落至约84600美元
