DON’T CHASE THE PUMP: The One Crypto Habit That Can Save You From Bad Entries
DON’T CHASE THE PUMP: The One Crypto Habit That Can Save You From Bad Entries There is a moment every crypto trader knows. You open Binance. One coin is suddenly flying. Green candles everywhere. People are posting rocket emojis. Someone says, “This is just getting started.” And suddenly… you feel like you are already late. That feeling is exactly where I think many bad entries begin. The problem isn't always the coin. It's the timing. A coin going up doesn't automatically mean it's a good entry. Sometimes the market is moving because of real news, increased volume, a listing, a broader market move, or a change in sentiment. But sometimes you're simply looking at a move that has already happened. And there is a big difference between finding a move early and chasing a move late. This is why I personally like to ask three simple questions before entering any fast-moving setup: 1. Why is it moving? Don't start with: “Kitna aur pump karega?” Start with: “Why is this happening?” Is there actual news? Is volume increasing? Is the entire market moving? Is the move happening on a meaningful breakout? Or is social media simply creating FOMO? Understanding the reason behind a move can completely change how you look at the chart. 2. Where am I entering? This is the question people often skip. A chart can look extremely bullish and still offer a terrible entry. Imagine watching a coin move +20% and then buying because you are afraid of missing the next +20%. If the market pulls back, your entry may suddenly become the biggest problem. Instead of asking only where price could go, think about where your idea becomes invalid. That's a much more useful question. 3. What happens if I'm wrong? This is probably my favourite question. Not: “How much can I make?” But: “What happens if I'm wrong?” Crypto doesn't reward confidence by itself. A good-looking setup can fail. A strong coin can fall. A perfect-looking breakout can become a fakeout. That's why risk management matters just as much as finding opportunities. The 5-minute rule I like When I see a coin suddenly pumping, I try not to make the decision immediately. I pause. I look at: • Market structure • Volume • Recent resistance • Possible support • The reason behind the move • BTC's overall direction • My invalidation level Sometimes the best trade is not entering immediately. Sometimes waiting gives you a much clearer picture. And sometimes… the trade simply isn't there. That's okay. Missing a trade is usually less expensive than forcing one. A simple mindset shift Instead of saying: “I don't want to miss this pump.” Try asking: “If I had no position right now, would I still take this trade?” That one question can remove a surprising amount of emotion. Because when you already feel attached to a trade, every red candle looks temporary. When you are outside the trade, you can usually see the chart more objectively. My biggest takeaway Crypto is full of opportunities. You don't need to catch every pump. You don't need to buy every breakout. You don't need to be right every time. The goal is not to predict every candle. The goal is to build a process that protects you when your prediction is wrong. Read the market. Respect the risk. Don't let FOMO choose your entry. And remember: The market will always give you another setup. What do you think? When you see a coin suddenly pumping, do you: A) Enter immediately B) Wait for a pullback C) Wait for confirmation D) Skip it completely Share your approach in the comments. 👇 #crypto #Binance #BinanceSquare #trading #tradingpsychology
