According to Jin10, 33 of 34 economists surveyed by Reuters from September 17 to 24 expect the Reserve Bank of Australia to raise the overnight cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.60% on September 29, the highest level since late 2011. It would be the fourth rate hike this year and bring the cumulative increase to 100 basis points. Most economists said the move would be the last hike in the current tightening cycle, although a few expect rates to rise to 4.85% by year-end.
